A Review of 9 to 5: The Musical (U.S. Tour)
By Jennifer R., March 15, 2011
I saw 9 to 5: The Musical (U.S. Tour) on 05/28/09. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “The show itself was nothing more than cute.”
I had a fun time and left the show feeling a bit regretful. I'd describe the show as fun, cute, and sassy. Marc kudish was a highlight of the show because his misogynist boss was beyond compare (better than Dabney). If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to young/older women but not to kids or men.
I saw this show because I was curious and wanted to see a good musical. I wouldn't see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were very comfy.
I saw this show shortly before it closed on Broadway and right before the Tony awards. As Dolly Parton was clearly involved with the music and that was great. Aside from Marc Kudisch's performance (which was spectacular), no one really stood out - sadly, not ever Allison. I didn't have any expectations going in, so I have no real regrets.
If you really love cheesy musicals without much of a plotline, you'll enjoy it - otherwise, rent the movie.
