A Review of A Life in the Theatre (Broadway)
By Anonymous, October 07, 2010
I saw A Life in the Theatre (Broadway) on 09/25/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Patrick Stewart and TR Knight give solid performances in an average Mamet show.”
I had a great time and left the show feeling happy and enlightened. I'd describe the show as funny, poignant, and heartfelt. Patrick stewart was a highlight of the show because it's such an honor to see him onstage. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to everyone, especially theatre lovers but not to young kids.
I saw this show because I love the cast.. I would see it again. I sat in the right orchestra area of the theater. The view was fine and the seats were comfy.
I was really impressed with this show. I didn't know much about the show going in, but I've had some pretty bad Mamet experiences lately, so my expectations weren't too high. They both gave fabulous performances and it was clear that there is a mutual respect between the actors, both onstage, and off. The only troublesome part of this show for me were the several set changes. I understand that it's necessary since it's only a two-hander, but they seemed rather long and tedious at times. But overall, this was a great theatre experience, and it reminded me why I love going to the theatre so much.
