I saw A Life in the Theatre (Broadway) on 09/22/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “woth seeing if only for Patric Stewart's performance”

I had high expectations for this show. Given it was written by David Mamet (not known for his light comic touch) I knew it would be interesting. Patrick Stewart and TR Knight make the most of what they were given to work with but the play left me wanting more. The staging felt disjointed and the transitions between scenes was slow. There are many many small scenes, some consiting of a single line. Admittedly I did see this during previews so maybe the staging was improved by opening. It was however, great to see these two actors on stage. Stewart comands the stage and Knight was excellent progressing from new stage struck actor to bonified star by the end.
