A Review of American Idiot (Broadway)
By Alina G., June 10, 2010
I saw American Idiot (Broadway) on 03/25/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “The vocals, performance and set are fantastic but there's very little story. The book needs work.”
I had a pretty good time and left the show feeling energized and confused. I'd describe the show as loud, energy-packed, and interesting. Stark sands was a highlight of the show because he was so out of his element and still delivered a great performance. If this were a movie, I'd rate it R. I would recommend this show to friends but not to kids.
I saw this show because I had comp tickets. I would see it again. I sat in the center mezzanine area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were comfy.
I enjoyed the performance aspect of it but kind of felt like the show was trying to make a huge political statement but it never actually quite made it there... I was confused by what they were trying to say and by some of the creative choices. That being said, I enjoyed hearing Green Day's music being performed by a super talented cast.
