A Review of American Idiot (Broadway)
By Linda B., June 18, 2010
I saw American Idiot (Broadway) on 06/09/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Visually stunning, if lacking a cohesive plot”
I had a fabulous time and left the show feeling naturally high and excited. I'd describe the show as energetic, thrilling, and entertaining. The young cast was a highlight of the show because they were so talented and the harmonies were gorgeous. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to people who like Green Day but not to people who need plots in their musicals.
I saw this show because I'd already seen it, but I wanted to take my mom and sister. I would see it again. I sat in the right mezzanine area of the theater. The view was very slightly obstructed (I was actually in a box) and the seats were comfortable.
The only flaw in this musical is the lack of plot and character development, but the choreography, set, lighting, cast, and score more than made up for it.
