I saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Off Broadway) on 05/02/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Fresh. Innovative. Glad to see NEW Musical Theatre.”

I had a great time and left the show feeling ridiculous and laughing. I'd describe the show as Hysterical, Fresh, and Captivating. Benjamin walker was a highlight of the show because he is VERY attractive and a fantastic singer. If this were a movie, I'd rate it R. I would recommend this show to downtown folk, musical theatre enthusiasts and hipsters but not to classical types or old ladies.

I saw this show because I love new musical theatre. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was perfect and the seats were fine.

I see a lot of readings and concerts of new work that is in development. In turn, I see a lot of crap. While Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is certainly not in development anymore, it is very new, almost right off of a concert and development series at The Public Theatre. It is truly the most innovative and fresh piece of musical theatre I've seen.

I'm very excited to hear about the plans to transfer this show to Broadway. However, while I'm sure it will be a critical success (Ben Brantley of the New York Times has already given the show a glowing review), I will be weary of it's box office appeal. The show benefits of the intimate setting of it's current Lafayette Street home, and a downtown community that is very supportive of the new, the edgy, and NOT the norm. I'm not sure the tourist driven midtown theatre district will respond the same.
