A Review of Elf (Broadway)
By Mark T., November 11, 2010
I saw Elf (Broadway) on 11/10/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Entertaining family show that has heart. Well made and should please the family theatergoers.”
I had a good time and left the show feeling happy and sated. I'd describe the show as fun, well-done, and enjoyable but not a home run. The set was a highlight of the show because it was simple but bright and created the fairy-tale atmosphere of the show. If this were a movie, I'd rate it G. I would recommend this show to failies and adults but not to grumpy old men.
I saw this show because I was invited by a friend. I wouldn't see it again. I sat in the right orchestra area of the theater. The view was good and the seats were fine.
THis is a charming holiday show. It doesn't get a 4 or 5 star rating because I didn't leave the theater feeling different than when I entered. It is well mad and should please the families that it is aspiring to attract as an annual audience.
The cast gave excellent performances, the choreography was snappy and fun and the director kept the pace moving along nicely. There is a tap number at the end that seemed superfluous and out of place but it did entertain the audience.
