A Review of Lysistrata Jones (Broadway)
By Yael M., December 06, 2011
I saw Lysistrata Jones (Broadway) on 11/17/11. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “It was the most fun I've had at a show in a while. So much energy!”
I had a great time and left the show feeling happy and ready to dance. I'd describe the show as fun, energetic, and refreshing. All of the basketball moves was a highlight of the show because it's hard to dance, dribble and sing at the same time. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to friends looking for a fun show they don't have to think to hard about but not to kids because, well, it's about sex.
I saw this show because I was invited to it. I would see it again. I sat in the right orchestra area of the theater. The view was great and the seats were typical Broadway theater seats.
There were some questionable plot lines, but if you don't think too hard about how a classic Aristophanes play was turned into a modern cheerleader musical, you can just have a good time. The actors were surprisingly very good and the music was very catchy. You'll walk out of the theater dancing.
