A Review of Mary Poppins (Broadway)
By Agatha B., August 29, 2010
I saw Mary Poppins (Broadway) on 08/03/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “One of the most lavish musicals I've seen in a long time, and its surprisingly moving. I loved it!”
I had a wonderful time and left the show feeling uplifted and amazed. I'd describe the show as visually-stunning, moving, and a classic Broadway show. Laura michelle kelly was a highlight of the show because she sings like an angel and delivers a "Mary" who is complex and suprisingly funny.. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG. I would recommend this show to adults and older kids but not to young children.
I saw this show because it was on my list. I would see it again. I sat in the right orchestra area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were comfy.
I was blown away by the scale of this musical: a giant cast, a full orchestra, and spectacular sets. "Step in Time" was just amazing, especially when "Bert" tap-dances upside down around the proscenium. Also, when Mary flies out over the audience at the end, you could literally hear gasps. It gave me goose-bumps!
