I saw Memphis (Broadway) on 07/10/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Interesting, performed with great enthusiasm. but little chemistry between the leads.”

I had a good time and left the show feeling fine and entertained. I'd describe the show as rythmic, rousing, and stylish. The lead actress was a highlight of the show because she acted and sang wonderfully. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG. I would recommend this show to friends and students but not to those without a basic knowledge of civil rights.

I saw this show because it was part of the Broadway Teachers Workshop. I would see it again. I sat in the left orchestra area of the theater. The view was excellent and the seats were comfortable.

The main problem with the show is that it becomes predictible in the second act and the male lead is charming in the first act, but grates on the nerves by the end of the show. His accent way too thick, his character way too predictible and no chemistry between him and the female lead.
