A Review of Next Fall (Broadway)
By Rob Intile, June 14, 2010
I saw Next Fall (Broadway) on 02/17/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “A very moving show. Heartfelt and relevant in every word.”
I had a emotionally charged time and left the show feeling hopeful and optimistic. I'd describe the show as beautiful, touching, and important. The impeccable direction by sheryl kaller was a highlight of the show because she connected each scene seamlessly and brought out the best in her actors. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to everyone with a heart.
I saw this show because I heard good things about the off-Broadway premier. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was excellent and the seats were fine.
This is an important show and comes at a time when the themes covered are a matter of urgency and priority in the United States. I'm very happy that the show does not take a particular stance, having characters from all sides of several social issues, simply presenting a common circumstance that many Americans face without proper legal protections.
I personally identified with one character but, through the wonderful leadership and director of Sheryl Kaller, was able to empathize with other characters where I did not expect.
Beautifully written and masterfully presented, Next Fall is a show I hope has a long healthy run and a show I plan to visit whenever I need a reminder for what I am fighting for and that there is hope.
