I saw Next To Normal (Broadway) on 05/30/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Incredible acting and characters/writing”

I had a wonderful time and left the show feeling emotional and hopeful. I'd describe the show as touching, emotionally engaging, and poignant. Incredible acting was a highlight of the show because the 6 of them were brilliant onstage . If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to people who like a good storyline but not to kids, people who like huge casts/production numbers.

I saw this show because I heard great things and heard the cast album. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were perfect.

At this performance, we saw the two understudies for Alice Ripley and Brian D'Arcy James, both of whom were phenomenal. I actually liked Jessica Phillips' voice better than Alice's on the album. I didn't realize that I would have gotten so emotional from this show, but it was so engaging from start to finish. The arena stage setting works perfect for this show. I also want to give props to the onstage musicians who did an awesome job.
