I saw Next To Normal (Broadway) on 10/17/09. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Poignant and sharp -- a brilliant emotional roller-coaster!”

The story is so real, as anyone who has ever suffered with a mental or emotional disorder can tell you. Diana's battle and the surrounding story-lines were well written, as were the accompanying songs. My favorite is "Superboy and the Invisible Girl". Whether you've dealt with a bi-polar parent or not, chances are you've felt at some point in your life that you were living in someone else's shadow. The acting is so brilliant that the audience actually experiences the emotions of the characters. I felt more from this show than I ever have with any other production.

I highly recommend "Next to Normal" and also recommend that you take tissues to the theater.
