A Review of Next To Normal (Broadway)
By Mark T., May 24, 2010
I saw Next To Normal (Broadway) on 05/21/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Very well made musical. Smart story-telling, emotionally gripping and great performances all around.”
I had a very good time and left the show feeling like I wanted to talk about what I saw. I'd describe the show as smart, compelling, and moving. Brian d'arcy james was a highlight of the show because he gives a simple, effective and moving performance and he can sign his face off!. If this were a movie, I'd rate it R. I would recommend this show to friends, colleagues but not to children.
I saw this show because I had heard good things abou it. I would see it again. I sat in the center mezzanine area of the theater. The view was good, had to lean forward to see front of the stage and the seats were comfortable.
Surprising excellent musical about a difficult subject that affects many people. Not surprising that it won the Pulitzer Prize for drama. It took me a long time to get to see this show and I am glad I did.
