I saw Promises, Promises (Broadway) on 09/15/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “A fairly charming but dated and somewhat mediocre show improved by some excellent performances.”

I had a enjoyable time and left the show feeling amused and entertained. I'd describe the show as cute, retro, and sexist. Katie finneran was a highlight of the show because she hilariously steals the show in Act 2!!. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to fans of Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth, who were both fab, and people who dig the 60's and/or Burt Bacharach but not to people looking for something more contemporary, I guess.

I saw this show because my friend won free tickets. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was okay and the seats were decent.

The classic film that PP is based on, "The Apartment," did it much better...and I'm not really sure why this was chosen of all things to revive right now, but it was better than I was expecting; I went in with low expectations having heard from disappointed friends and such. It was a so-so show, but had some great moments, and the fantastic all-around cast made it worth seeing. I missed the standout choreography of the original production's "Turkey Lurkey" song, though! (And they really didn't need to stick "Say A Little Prayer" in there, in such a random and awkward scene.) Also, this really should be in a smaller theatre, it's struggling to fill the vast space of the Broadway and losing some of the intimacy. Still, not as bad as I was thinking it might be! :) And Sean, Cheno, Katie, and Dick Latessa are especially wonderful! I'm glad I finally got to see it.
