A Review of Red (Broadway)
By Amy W., April 08, 2010
I saw Red (Broadway) on 03/31/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Great show with superb performances”
I had a lovely time and left the show feeling excited and thoughtful. I'd describe the show as thought provoking, profound, and educational. Alfred molina was a highlight of the show because I never thought to myself "Hey, that's the guy from Spiderman 2". If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to mature adults but not to little kids, people with ADD, or the cast of Jersey Shore.
I saw this show because I had the time off and I was given tickets. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were just fine.
I really liked this show, and that is saying a lot for me, because I see TONS of shows, and am a pretty tough critic. That being said, this show was really insightful and inspiring. I think it gives a lot of insight ito the mind of creative people (not just artists), and says a great deal about the process one goes through when creating something. I think it is extremely helpful to read up on Rothko a bit before you see the show...there are some scenes that will mean more if you know about Rothko both as a man and as an artist. The 2 performers were just incredible, and the lighting design is stellar.
