I saw The 39 Steps (Off Broadway) on 05/31/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “A highly entertaining bit of silly fun with a talented cast of physical comedians (and comedienne)!”

I had a amusing time and left the show feeling lighthearted and impressed. I'd describe the show as madcap, spoofy, and tongue-in-cheek. The cast of four was a highlight of the show because they hilariously embodied dozens of characters with lots of quick changes. If this were a movie, I'd rate it G. I would recommend this show to fans of Hitchcock and farce but not to someone looking for a serious story or a big-budget production; this is bare-bones comedy that emphasizes the silliness of theatre-making on a shoestring.

I saw this show because I won four free tickets in a contest. I would see it again. I sat in the left orchestra area of the theater. The view was decent and the seats were perfectly adequate.
