I saw The 39 Steps (Off Broadway), but I don't remember exactly when. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Great acting and wonderful physical comedy but not much of a story”

and left the show feeling . I'd describe the show as schmaltzy, funny, and boring. The performance of man #1 and man #2 was a highlight of the show because their comedic timing and skill were incredible. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG. I would recommend this show to huge fans of Hitchcock and clowning but not to everyone else.

I saw this show because I got free tickets. I wouldn't see it again. I sat in the left orchestra area of the theater. The view was great and the seats were comfortable.

I originally saw this production in Boston before it made its way to NYC. I remember having really liked it, but the only thing I could recall precisely was that it was very funny. So, when I ended up with tickets to see it again, I decided to go. The show is still very funny with moments of absolute fall of the chair hilarity. However, this has everything to do with the incredible skill of the actors and little to nothing to do with the story and/or plot. At the mid point, a friend that I went with said she didn't care about the characters at all, and I have to agree. Also, I haven't nearly enough Hitchcock to fully appreciate all of the wink wink moments.
