I saw Through the Night (Off Broadway) on 11/12/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Moving and powerful story, finely acted and directed. Should NOT BE MISSED by any avid theatergoer!”

I had a enlightening time and left the show feeling moved and engrossed. I'd describe the show as beautifully told, moving, and what theater was meant to be. The way the story unfolded was a highlight of the show because Daniel Beatty tied the storylines together with great emotional effect. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to everyone with a heartbeat but not to young children.

I saw this show because I had heard great things about it. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was excellent and the seats were fine.

Wow. I have not been that moved or engrossed by a play in quite a while. Slowly as the play moves along it draws you in to its story and holds you tight until at the end you can exhale with a sense of hope. It is a beautifully crafted story which has political and emotional importance for all who see it.
The story, while being told from an African-American point of view, transcends racial boundaries and speaks to everyone. It's themes of survival, family loyalty, second chances and making the world a better place for your children resonate powerfully with the audience. There were numerous vocal responses from the audience to moments in the play and at the end strangers stood up applauding the performance and then spoke with each other about the play.
Through The Night is a special piece of theater that I hope will be seen by a broad audience.
