A Review of We the People: America Rocks! (Off Broadway)
By Linda B., July 29, 2010
I saw We the People: America Rocks! (Off Broadway) on 07/18/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “a great summer show for both adults and children.”
I had a good time and left the show feeling happy and carefree. I'd describe the show as educational, clever, and fun. The rock score was a highlight of the show because each song was written by an up-and-coming composer, so it gave a chance to sample many styles. If this were a movie, I'd rate it G. I would recommend this show to families with kids ages 8 and up and even adults with no children but not to very young children.
I saw this show because all tickets are free. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was excellent and the seats were fine (except for the little boy kicking my seat).
There are plenty of other free theater options in the summer that aren't Shakespeare in the Park. Every summer, Theatreworks USA puts on a free show at the Lucille Lortel. I showed up 15 minutes before they started handing out the tickets and I had no problem getting one.
